Major John Mason's GREAT ISLAND by James H. Allyn 1976 is a history of Masons Island from the days of the Indians and the original settlers. See the 1979 New London Day review. The book may be purchased from the Mystic Seaport store and Bank Square Books.

A second book by James Allyn, Swamp Yankee from Mystic, is available in local bookstores and libraries.
