Major John Mason's GREAT ISLAND by James H. Allyn 1976 is a history of Masons Island from the days of the Indians and the original settlers. See the 1979 New London Day review. The book may be purchased from  Bank Square Books.

A second book by James Allyn, Swamp Yankee from Mystic, is available in local bookstores and libraries.
